Te Papapa School -Re Roofing Project

Location

Te Papapa School, Onehunga, Auckland

Role

Project Managers, Roofing and HVAC

Date

Dec 2020 to Feb 2021

Puddlefish Platt completed a comprehensive re-roofing project at Te Papapa School, upgrading more than 80% of the school’s roofing to improve durability, weather protection, and long-term building performance.
The project involved the complete removal of old and rusted roofing, gutters, and downpipes, along with the temporary decommissioning of existing air conditioning units to allow the roofing works to be completed safely and efficiently.
Before the new roofing system was installed, structural repairs were carried out to provide a sound and reliable base. The works also included new insulation, re-screwing, and the installation of high-quality steel roofing and Clearlite roofing elements to improve weathertightness and natural light where required.
New dektites, flashings, gutters, and downpipes were installed to improve drainage and weather protection across the upgraded roof areas. New monkey toe roof access points were also added to support safer access for future inspection and maintenance.
Following completion of the roofing works, the existing air conditioning units were recommissioned to restore effective climate control within the school buildings.
Delivered across a large portion of the school site, the project required careful planning, sequencing, and coordination to manage access, safety, and disruption. The completed works significantly improved the condition and performance of the school’s roofing system, helping create a safer, drier, and more comfortable environment for students and staff.
